The other day I was updating a post on my must haves from IKEA and I realized the section I had on IKEA curtains was getting quite lengthy.

So I decided to create a whole new blog post just about the best curtains from IKEA.

You guys know I love IKEA and you know I get most of my curtains from IKEA. I love the length of their curtains and most importantly I love their price. The price you see is for the pair of curtains…not just one panel.

I have IKEA curtains sprinkled throughout my house.

I also just learned that most of IKEA’s curtains have pleating tape already sewn on them.

How it took me as long as it did to figure this out is beyond me. As a home decor blogger, I should be embarrassed about this late discovery.

I did write a post on how to pinch pleat curtains if you want to read more about it. I love how my curtains turned out all pinched. You would never know these curtains were so inexpensive.

One of the first things I have ever purchased at IKEA was their curtains (besides my EKTORP sofa). And for the record, you can shop online at IKEA. For smaller items, their shipping prices are reasonable.

The best curtains at IKEA

The first curtains I have ever purchased from IKEA were the VIVAN curtains and I could not believe the price of them.

I added some navy trim to those curtains with fabric glue to dress them up a bit. I’ll call that my first ever IKEA hack.

IKEA has since discontinued these drapes but it looks like the HILJA curtains are very similar to them…including the price

The Most Popular IKEA Curtains (and The Best IKEA White Curtains)

IKEA RITVA Curtains

The RITVA curtains are by far the most popular IKEA curtains with most home decor bloggers. They really do have a cult following.

Somehow I have yet to have purchased the RITVA curtains. Which I know is odd.

The RITVA curtains come in three different lengths (the longest being 118″) and two different colors. The RITVA curtains do have the pleating tape sewn on so you can also pinch pleat these curtains.

These curtains are like your favorite black dress but in white. They have the look of linen but the price tag of cotton and rival with some of the most expensive curtains I have seen at Pottery Barn or similar stores.

IKEA LENDA Curtains

Similar to the RIVTA curtains are the LENDA curtains from IKEA. I found these curtains through one of my favorite bloggers, Young House Love and followed their advice on how to hang them.

Do not let the tab heading fool you on these drapes like they originally did to me. You can keep the tabs or remove them if that is not your style

I clipped off the tabs and hung these curtains with curtain rings instead

The LENDA curtains are also really great white IKEA drapes. Since they have the tab heading, they do not have pleating tape sewn on so you cannot pinch pleat these curtains.

The material on the LENDA curtain panels is really pretty with a tiny bit of detail.

They also come in different lengths and different colors as well.

IKEA Linen Curtains

IKEA DYTAG curtains review

Now, if you want the real deal and do not want to take out a loan to afford linen curtains, IKEA’s DYTAG curtains are amazing. They come in multiple colors but only come in the 98″ length.

I have the blue color hanging in my master bedroom. They do have the pleating tape but I have not got around to pinching them yet. However, they also look great hung with the back tab right on the curtain rod.

I am very tempted to get the beige color DYTAG curtains for our living room but I’ll wait for now. Remember, these are linen curtains so they will not be blackout curtains and will be more light filtering.

IKEA HANNALILL Curtains

Besides the DYTAG curtains, I love the HANNALILL curtains.

I currently have the HANNALILL curtains hung in my living room and I really do love them. And you cannot beat the price on these bad boys.

These are light filtering curtains and pretty light weight. We do not use these curtains for privacy.

I do love how light they are though and add just a bit of texture to our space. They only come in 98″ length and as a word of caution, they will shrink if you wash and dry them.

Learn from my mistake.

I do plan on pinch pleating these curtains at some point. I also plan on purchasing more curtain panels to beef up these curtains in here but I keep going back and forth with wanting the linen ones or not.

Oh the decisions. But the price of these HANNALILL curtains is so insane it is hard to justify spending more money.

I also folded a pair of HANNALILL curtains in half and hung them to hide my washer and dryer.

There is no shame in my game. IKEA curtains don’t always have to be window treatments.

IKEA HILJA curtains

Coming in as a close second for light filtering curtains is the HILJA curtains.

You can find the HILJA curtains on Amazon too. I do not own the HILJA curtains so I cannot speak too much about them but I’m going to go ahead and say they are worth the inexpensive price.

IKEA Lace Curtains

If you want a true sheer lace curtain, the ALVINE SPETS curtains are great and the price is even better.

And speaking of price, the LILL curtains are the least expensive curtains you will ever find and are a great sheer white curtain.

Best IKEA blackout curtains

The MAJGULL curtains

I also do not own the MAJGULL curtains but I have seen them in the store and they are really pretty. For being blackout curtains, these are actually lightweight curtains.

I always worry about heavy curtains falling off my wall one day. I know that likely won’t happen but it’s always a thought (and I know it is an odd thing to worry about.)

IKEA SANELA curtains

These velvet curtains from IKEA are something else, let me tell you. Have you ever paid attention to how much velvet curtains can cost?

I purchased the green velvet curtains for my dining room and had them up for quite a while.

I loved these curtains. I have recently given our dining room a makeover and switched out the curtains but I do plan on using them somewhere else because I love them so much.

Also, our dining room can be quite the hot box. The sun just pours into that room and I was worried that these curtains would fade and they never did.

The SANELA curtains come in so many colors and two different lengths. Your big tall windows can rejoice in knowing that these curtains come in 118″ lengths.

I absolutely love these curtains and have recommended them to so many people. They are easily one of my favorite purchases at IKEA.

Discontinued IKEA curtains

A couple years ago I purchased the ORDENSFLY curtains from IKEA. They are no longer sold anymore by IKEA which is a bummer. I loved the houndstooth pattern on them.

I’m sure this means nothing to you since you can’t purchase them from IKEA anymore but I still have these curtains hanging in my TV room and just pinched pleated all of them.

Length of IKEA curtains

I told you before that I love IKEA curtains for their length. You will not find any short curtains at IKEA. I have no idea why they still make 84″ curtains. It’s one of life’s greatest mysteries to me.

And thanks to IKEA, you can do this with their curtains. Most of their curtains are 98″ and some are 118″.

If for any reason you need your curtains to be shorter, you can always pull out some hemming tape. Easy peasy

How To Hang IKEA Curtains

Most of IKEA’s curtains can be hung a few different ways. There are exceptions so always read the description.

You can hang most curtains directly on the curtain rod or you can use a curtain track. I cannot speak too much about the curtain track because I have never hung my curtains with that method.

You can also hang the curtains on a curtain rod through the hidden back tabs or with rings and hooks.

And like I said earlier you can hang these curtains using the pleating tape that is already sewn on to give your curtains a more polished look.

I know you can get curtain hooks and rods at IKEA but I always get these through Amazon. It just seems easier to me for some reason.

These are my favorite curtain rods and come in extra long lengths. It is what I have in my family room and it’s one long continuous rod, which I wanted.

Now go get yourself some curtains from IKEA, I double dog dare you. Once you do, you will never go back to spending too much money on curtains.
